What are "cookies" and how can you manage them?
"Cookies" are small information files that a website (specifically the web server) stores on a user's computer so that every time the user connects to the website, the latter retrieves this information and offers the user related services. A typical example of such information is the user’s preferences on a website, as declared through the choices they make on the website (e.g., selecting specific "buttons," searches, advertisements, etc.). Some of these, known as session cookies, are deleted after the browser session ends, while other cookies remain on the device and allow us or connected parties to recognize the browser on the next visit (persistent cookies).
The installation of "cookies" is only allowed with the user’s consent and after providing appropriate information.
How can I control the "cookies" installed on my computer?
The primary way to control "cookies" is through the settings of the web browser you use, which should be configured not to accept "cookies" by default and to require your active choice for each installation. However, keep in mind that if you have disabled "cookie" acceptance, you may have limited access to some of the services or functions provided by a website. It is also useful to install one of the available cookie management add-ons or plug-ins for your browser to gain more control over when they are installed.
When using a web browser to access websites, you can set it to accept all cookies, reject all cookies, or notify you when cookies are being sent. Each browser is different. Go to the "Help" menu of your browser to learn how to change your cookie preferences. Your device's operating system may also include additional cookie control settings.
If you do not accept the installation of cookies, the functionality of a website or application may be reduced. To implement your preference technically, a cookie indicating your opt-out will be installed in your browser. This cookie serves solely to remember your refusal. Please note that for technical reasons, the above cookie can only be used by the browser where it was installed. If you delete cookies or use a different browser, you will need to declare your refusal again (re-opt-out).
